    The LCGS was founded June 1997 and is a non-profit organization established to collect and preserve the ancestry of Lawrence County families, to stimulate and instruct all persons interested in genealogy, to develop and record historical and vital facts of the people who originated, developed and helped build our great county.  Below you will find a list of board members and officers that you may contact for information.  Also, we have many links to various other websites of particular interest to Lawrence County researchers and in general research. (If you find any broken links, I would appreciate you notifying me at the email address above.)

MEMBERSHIP is open to anyone interested in Lawrence County genealogy, family history or history of the county in general. Regular meetings are held on the Third Saturday of Sept., Mar. and June, and the Second Saturday in Dec. All meetings are held at the Old Jail Museum located on Waterloo St. across from the Fire Department in Lawrenceburg, TN, unless otherwise notified. On occasion, the December meeting is held in the First Methodist Church meeting room attached to the back of the church on Waterloo St. beside the fire department. All members and prospective members are encouraged to attend the quarterly meetings.

    Our society publishes a quarterly journal titled Lawrence County Heritage consisting of 40 pages filled with various family histories, transcriptions of wills, marriage records, tax records, queries, book reviews, Bible records, pictures, diaries, etc. If you would like to submit articles, pictures or records for the publication, please contact Kathy Niedergeses at the email, address or phone number above. 
     In the table below, you will find links to the table of contents for each issue of the journal. We will be continuously adding links for our issues up to the current date as time permits. I want to give a special thank you to members who have prepared a synopsis of our table of contents in the past: Irma Kaslow, Patricia Milnes, Lila Gobbell, and Susan Beeler Anderson; and our current volunteer: Lawrence Niedergeses.
     When the Lawrence County Genealogical Society began in September of 1997, extra journals were produced to ensure back issues would be on hand for future members who wished to purchase them. We have sold a good number of them over the years, but, due to a large number of some issues still remaining, the society decided in 2020 that it is time to do away with all but a few of each issue. At this time (Dec. 2022), most of the excess back issues have been given away, but there are a few issues for certain years remaining. If you find a back issue you wish to order, contact Kathy Niedergeses through the society’s phone number or email above.
     We will still keep some of each issue for future members interested in purchasing them. Also, some issues from 2001-2014 and all issues since 2015 are on my computer and can sent to our printer for a hard copy for $3.50. If they are not in my computer, we can copy those on a copy machine for $6.00. You can find what each issue contains below under Journal Table of Contents. If you are not local and wish to order issues, you will be responsible for the shipping cost.
