Baker Cemetery

Location:  Going North from Lawrenceburg take Hwy. 43 North to Alexander Springs Road. Right onto Marcella Falls Road to Benson Road on the right. Approximately 1/4 mile to cemetery.

Cemetery is located near the restored home of Alfred Ogilvie WILLIAMS, owner of Marcella Falls in the mid to late 1800’s.  The home was restored by the present owners Mr. and Mrs. Ralph BENSON.  According to Lawrence County Historical Bulletin No. 5, Sept. 1953, “Marcella Falls was an industrial center almost 100 years ago, and had the following enterprises therein: one or two power turbines and one overshot wheel operated by water, one woolen mill, chair factory, tanyard, two or more large sawmills, post office, general store, handle factory, stave mill, two large mill ponds.”  This is all gone now and the road down to the falls is closed and no longer used.  The cemetery was established by some of the early residents of this community.
