An Invitation to Membership in the
Lawrence County (TN) Genealogical Society

The Lawrence County Genealogical Society was formed in 1997 as a non-profit organization. Our main goal is to collect and preserve genealogical and family history information pertaining to families who have lived, or continue to live, in Lawrence County, and to make this material available to researchers. 

LCGS Quarterly Meetings are held on the 3rd Sat. of March, June and September; and the 2nd Sat. in Dec. in order not to conflict with Christmas preparations. Meetings in March and June are held at the Lawrence County Public Library, 319 E. Gaines (Hwy. 64E) at 1:30 p.m. The September meeting is at the Old Jail Museum on Waterloo St. at 1:30 p.m., and the December meeting is at the First Methodist Church across from the Old Jail on Waterloo and by the Fire Department at 1:30.

Queries are free, but please try to limit them to 100 words. You may submit two for each journal if space permits. We really encourage members to submit articles along with pictures on their families for publication in our journal. The Lawrence County Heritage is printed quarterly - Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. It contains from 40 pages packed full of family histories, Lawrence County history, pictures, queries, reviews of genealogical and historical books concerning Lawrence County and abstracts of original records - wills, births, deeds, marriages, Bible records, etc.

Our society year runs from Sept. of one year through Aug. of the following year. Please make check or money order payable to Lawrence County Genealogical Society (or LCGS). * The $20 yearly membership is the same as a regular membership, but gives the society a little extra money to use for journal publication, supplies, and other fees for maintaining the society.
