The Heritage of Lawrence County, Tennessee may still be purchased through the Lawrence County Archives while supplies last. However, our inventory is getting low. If you don't want to miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity to know more about Lawrence County's past and its people, you might want to think about purchasing the book before too long. The book would make a wonderful Christmas (or birthday) gift. For additional information and an order form, visit this web page Lawrence County Heritage Book Information  You may also contact the Lawrence Co. Archives, or by phone 931-852-4091, for more details.

The LCGS was founded June 1997 and is a non-profit organization established to collect and preserve the ancestry of Lawrence County families, to stimulate and instruct all persons interested in genealogy, to develop and record historical and vital facts of the people who originated, developed and helped build our great county.  Below you will find a list of board members and officers that you may contact for information.  Also, we have many links to various other websites of particular interest to Lawrence County researchers and in general research.

Our society publishes a quarterly journal titled Lawrence County Heritage consisting of 38-40 pages filled with various family histories, transcriptions of wills, marriage records, tax records, queries, book reviews, Bible records, pictures, diaries, etc.  Jim Crowder is our editor and does a wonderful job.  (Many thanks for a job well done from everyone who enjoys our journals!!)  Kathy Niedergeses is the assistant editor. Below you will find links to the table of contents for many of our past issues of the journal. Back issues can be ordered by contacting the society through the Lawrence County Archives.  We will be continuously adding links for our issues up to current time as we are able to.  I want to give a special thank you to the members who have prepared a synopsis of our table of contents in the past: Irma Kaslow,  Patricia Milnes, Lila Gobbell; and our current volunteer: Susan Beeler Anderson.

The society has an excess of many of these issues, and has decided to sale these at a reduced price. Issues Vol. 1, #1 through Vol. 10, #4 below can be purchased at $1.00 plus postage. Vol. 11, #1 through Vol. 12, #4 and upward are currently $3.50 per issue, or 4 issues for $10.00.

(**Vol. 5, #1, Fall 2001, and Vol. 5, #3, Spring 2002 have sold out, but we will make copies of the pages on a good copy machine and mail for $4.00, plus postage. There are other issues that have recently sold out and I will try to post a list soon. (The $4.00 fee for 40 pages is one-half normal copy fees at the archives.)

If you decide to purchase any of the issues listed, please contact the society at lcarchives@lorettotel.net (or at the above address or phone number) so we can determine the postage. Please include your zip code, since the postage fee will depend on weight and area the package is being shipped to.
