This article, which previously appeared in the Lawrence County Genealogical Society's quarterly journal, is a compilation of slave names and owners abstracted from  deeds. A few are from other sources. Plans are later to take this further up in time and to add abstracts from wills, county and chancery court petitions, etc. Hopefully this will assist African-Americans in tracing their heritage.
