From the Editor
The editor plans to expand the inclusion of original records and photographs in future issues. Other improvements will be an increase in articles and an improvement in graphic reproduction. This issue corrects errors in the membership list and provides a supplement of new members. Two new publications of interest are Marriages of Lawrence County, TN, 1818-1829 and Tennessee Deed Book O .

Minutes of December 4, 1999 Meeting
The meeting was brought to order with President Mary Nell Hollis Franks presiding. Newly elected officers were announced: Shirley Hollis, Chairperson; Mary Nell Hollis Franks, President; Reita Buress, Vice-President; Kathy Niedergeses, Secretary; Travis Henderson, Treasurer; Randy Hughes, publicity. Viola Carpenter will continue as historian. The Family History Fair will take place on June 17, 2000. The members unanimously approved the purchase of a scanner to be the property of the Society and on loan to the Archives. Reita Burress, Mary Nell Franks and Wally Moore demonstrated the computer programs Family Tree Maker and Family Origins.
North Arkansas Ancestor Fair
This will be held June 1-3, 2000, in Leslie and Marshall, Arkansas.
History Fair Table Reservation Form
This form is to be completed by those researching in Lawrence County who plan to attend the family history fair to display their materials and photos; and vendors of publications and materials on Lawrence or surrounding counties.

The Family of Claiborne Palmore (Part I), by Wallace Palmore
The Lawrence County Palmore family is documented for the period 1830-1870. The data are supported by marriage, land, estate and census records. A photo thought to be of Claiborne Palmore and his 3rd wife, Elmora Riddle, is included.
City of Ethridge to Honor Founders
The weekend of July 1st and 2nd is set aside to celebrate and honor Colonel George Henry Nixon and Young Milton Hudson, the founders of the City of Ethridge

The General History of the Higgs Family (Part I), by Danny M. Higgs
The Higgs family is documented from the birth of Isham Higgs, 1817, in Lawrence County, and the article lists the history of the first seven of 14 children with some descendants. Photos include James Marshall "Dock" Higgs and family; George W. Higgs and family (c. 1910); Isham Phillip "Phil" Higgs and family (c. 1916); and Barbara Lousinda Hicks Rackley and family.
