This family history continues with the 1870's and 1880's with census, land, marriage and death records. Photos include those of Nathan P. This very valuable list of early County Tax Payers was transcribed from the original handwritten list at the Tennessee State Library & Archives. A copy of the original is at the Lawrence County Archives.

The students standing in front of the Crockett School are unidentified. The date of the photo is no later than 1927, as the school burned that year.

The General History of the Higgs Family (Part II), by Danny M. Higgs

The article completes the history of the 14 children of Isham and Barbary Higgs and some of their descendants. The author recounts the Higgs participation in the petition (1823) to defeat David Crockett's attempt to relocate the County seat. Photos include: Daniel McDuel Higgs (c 1892); Vernon Higgs (father of the author); Frank Robbins; William (Willie) Isham Higgs; Manerva Higgs; William Riley Robbins; Mary Viola Robbins Higgs.
